Batman Returns is a 1992 action film and is the sequel to Batman. It was directed by Tim Burton, and starred Michael Keaton, Michelle Pfeiffer, Danny DeVito, and Christopher Walken. In this film, Batman faces The Penguin, who exposes Batman in a different light with the help of the crooked Max Shreck. Meanwhile, Max's secretary is thrown off a building and becomes the hero/villain Catwoman.

- Cher: Bob Kane said in the second season opener of the show Prisoners of Gravity that she was a strong contender to play the role.

- Susan Sarandon: She wanted the part, but opted to take a leading role in Lorenzo's Oil. Ironically, that role was vacated by Michelle Pfeiffer.

- Sean Young: She very much wanted the role, as she had to drop out of the first film when she boke her collarbone. During pre-production, she arrived at the studio in a homemade Catwoman suit to confront the makers of the movie. She even used other people to scout the studio grounds to track down the producers. Burton hid under his desk so he could avoid her[1].

- Marlon Wayans: He was in a contract to play the role in this film and Batman Forever, but after the re-writes and hiring of Joel Schumachur as director. Chris O'Donnell replaced him. Wayans still got paid, though.
